Psychiatric Evaluations & Addiction Recovery
Victory Recovery Partners is a network of seven addiction-recovery centers located on Long Island, New York. We have outpatient centers in Massapequa Park, Hempstead, Hicksville, Shirley, and Farmingville. Additionally, we operate Methadone centers at the Shirley and Farmingville locations.
Victory provides total care under one roof—this unique model separates us from our competition. By offering wellness, medication-assisted treatment, psychiatric, and wellness services, we are able to provide complete care to our patients.
Part of the process of admitting a new patient is for them to receive a psychiatric evaluation. These evaluations are important, as they are one of the first steps we take to measure the patient’s mental health. Think of this as an important first step towards recovery. Psychiatric evaluations allow the psychiatrist to learn about your medical and substance use history – this includes uncovering details about your addiction, such as the substances that you use, along with any of the negative side effects that occur as a result of the substance use.
In addition to this, the provider will also want to learn more about your daily life while battling substance use disorder. Does using the substance affect your personal life? Are you having issues with friends and family? Is your performance at work negatively impacted? Having answers to these questions helps our providers by allowing them to see if there are any underlying psychiatric issues or conditions that may be contributing to the substance use. Additionally, your psychiatrist would want to know what other medications you are currently taking for other conditions. This is important, because substance use disorders often evolve from a separate underlying condition – for example, if you have severe pain and are trying to treat it yourself, you may have tried to relieve the pain by using a drug such as heroin. Understanding what led to the initial substance use is key in developing a plan for recovery.
When a new patient receives a psychiatric evaluation, they will also typically get blood tests done, as well as a physical. This provides an extra layer of detail about your health and wellbeing.
An important point to note is that Victory Recovery Partners also provides medication management. This means that once you are admitted as a new patient, we will continue to monitor and oversee the medications you are currently taking. Our patients commonly have co-occurring conditions that require medication management. This could range from hepatitis to diabetes, and even anxiety and depression. By providing an ongoing management of your medications, we ensure that you are receiving the specific treatment and care that is needed for your recovery.
If you or someone you know is suffering with substance use disorder and addiction, seeking professional help from an outpatient center such as Victory Recovery Partners may be very helpful. It may seem overwhelming to start thinking about receiving help, but once you get started and take that first step, we are confident you will feel like you made the right choice. We’ve helped thousands of patients, and we would like to help you, too. For more information on Victory, visit our website www.victoryrp.com
